The first registration period has closed with more than 2,000 runners already registered. The figures are very good and predict a great participation. Without going any further, the last edition held in Turku (Finland) last summer established a figure of 4,115 participants and if we compare this success achieved by the Finnish organization with current data, we can have good expectations.
At this time there are already 41 countries represented, the same as in Finland in 2024. In fact, there are already 18 nationalities with more registered than in Turku, and four that were not represented (Chile, Singapore, Kazakhstan and Uganda). There are also others that were there last summer, which have not yet registered any representatives (China, Croatia, South Korea, the Netherlands and Luxembourg), which makes us think that we can increase the number of participating countries in the coming weeks. We also hope to be able to bring to fruition the different possibilities that we have with Latin American countries with which we are working and thus achieve the objective of being the WMOC of all history with more nationalities represented.
As always in this competition, Finland (14.91%), Sweden (12.08%) and Norway (10.91%) are the countries that contribute the most participants. Spain (9.04%), France (7.53%), Estonia (5.91%), Czechia (5.31%), Great Britain (5.20%), Switzerland (3.34%) and Denmark (2.48%) continue to complete the Top 10.
If we look at the categories, they also all have entries from 35 to those over 95, both male and female. Another fact that improves the data from Turku, where the men’s category over 95 did not have any competitors. The category with the most entries at the moment is the M65, and in the women’s category the W55. Regarding data by gender, 58.54% are men and 41.46% are women.
The second deadline closes on April 30 and the organization will continue promoting the event at different competitions during the coming weeks, focusing on races in Spain (MOM and Costa Cálida), Portugal (POM) and France (Nationale Sud-Ouest).
